Run, run as fast as you can!

Last week we read the Gingerbread Man story. On Friday we decorated our gingerbread cookies. And wouldn't you know? When we went to eat them, they had run away!.So, off we went to search Beauclerc for them.

We looked in Mrs. East's room -- no gingerbread men!

We looked in Mrs. Hayden's patio - no gingerbread men!

We asked Miss Lynn in the office -- no gingerbread men!

We asked Mrs. West, our VP -- no gingerbread men!

We asked our very smart principal, Mrs. Kornblum -- no gingerbread men!

We asked the helpful Miss Bev, in the office -- no gingerbread men!

We asked the fabulous fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Lee -- no gingerbread men!

We asked the new music teacher, Mrs. Truthan -- no gingerbread men!

Finally we found them in the media center! We were as sly as the 'ol fox. We think they wanted to see the awesome place their book came from.

Sad to say they went the way of all gingerbread boys -- we ate them.

You, too, might want to read this story with your child at home. It's delicious!

A Busy First Day

We know how hectic the first day can be and how much fun the traffic is too!
Thanks to you we started off the day promptly.

This is how it went:
We got right into the thick of things by getting to know each other and discussing how to treat each other.
Then we zipped into our first workshop -- Writer's Workshop.

Next we gathered our lunch items and headed off to the cafeteria.
That can be a tough spot for the little ones on the first day, but the Royal Subjects were awesome! Everyone chowed down and cleaned up.

After lunch we had fun at our next workshop -- Reader's Workshop.
We drew self-portraits, worked with clay and pattern blocks and were introduced to literacy games.

Then came the children's favorite time of the day -- outside play!
Don't forget to send in already-filled water bottles for these warm days.

We came in and had a few moments rest. Then took a "field trip" of the room of the different Planning Board centers, another Castle favorite time of the day. (See pictures of first day at the Planning Board below)
Finally, it was time to pack our bags and have our delicious bus cookies that Andrew brought for a first day treat.
Then off to home.
And the Queen off to a nap!
A great first day of kindergarten!

First Day Play

Look who's making friends and having fun in Queensland!

Janari and Michael are creating sculptures at the clay table.

Kalvin and Jamal are digging for gold at the sand table.

Brian and Jhi'Davien are totally "buggy!"

Isabella's future looks bright as a designer of fashion. She's starting off with Mrs. Potato Head!

The Queen wishes Janya and Andrew would straighten out her house this well!

Doesn't Cameron look like a cool guy?

Lance and Anaya are intent on their inventions at the Inventor Center. Don't you just love 5 year old imaginations?

Vanshika and Skylar are finding good "stuff" to spark their creative juices. The Inventor Center is popular from day one!

Jordan and the birthday boy, Irving, are starting the year off right -- making friends!

Girls can build and make friends, as Sautavis and Jaidyn prove at the block center.

Anaya and Aliana enjoy some getting to know you time.

The Queen is ready
And so is the room
I can't wait for tomorrow--
It's not a moment too soon.
So hurry to school
And don't be late
With you in our class
The year's sure to be great!
